We work in the United States and Canada with government officials, youth workers, teachers, students, parents, and others to foster new cultures, climates, structures, programs, and opportunities for engagement. Decades of combined experience leading dynamic programs and organizations gives us insight into best practices from across the fields of community organizing, education, public health, government, and national service.

In essence, we are in the business of equipping people and organizations with the skills, knowledge, and ability they need to be passionate, principled, and powerful forces throughout society. We believe all people should be catalysts for change in the places that matter most to them. What We Do

Building on our expertise, we offer a comprehensive suite of services for clients ranging from schools, community organizations, government agencies, districts, and universities.

Training & Professional Development on-site workshops and training sessions tailored to meet the unique needs and context of the client

 

Building a New Model for Community Action. Our staff worked with Action For Healthy Kids to provide an introductory training experience for New England leaders focused on engaging community members as partners in improving the physical activity and nutrition climates in schools.

Consultation in-depth consultation and technical assistance with organizational and/or programmatic operations.

 

Making Service Learning Authentic. The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction was concerned about the effectiveness of their subgrantees' service learning programs, so they contracted with us to consult dozens of elementary, middle and high schools across the state.

Freelance Writing design and writing of curriculum, instructional materials, project manuals, proposals, and more

 

Promoting Engagement in Systems of Care. CommonAction Consulting staff provided guidance and writing for the American Institutes of Research Technical Assistance Partnership when they wanted to develop a comprehensive national guide for Systems of Care communities across the nation.

Public Speaking expert knowledge-sharing and motivational talks with young people and adults

Meaningful Student Involvement in Supportive Learning Environments. The New York State Student Support Services Center hired CommonAction Consulting to provide 15 keynote presentations with more than 100 schools at dozens of workshops across the state. Speaking to teachers, administrators, school staff, and higher ed faculty, our staff introduced the concept of meaningful student involvement supported with research, anecdotes, and examples from around the world.

Who are we?

CommonAction Consulting connects a variety of consultants from across the country to meet the needs of it's diverse clients. Founded by internationally-recognized youth engagement thought leader Adam Fletcher, today CommonAction staff includes the following individuals.

Adam Fletcher Adam is an internationally-recognized expert on community engagement and is the founder of SoundOut and The Freechild Project. The author of dozens of publications, he consults with schools, community organizations, and government agencies across the US and Canada to promote meaningful and sustained approaches to community engagement. He uses more than 20 years experience working with small nonprofits, federal government agencies, and national foundations to promote effective approaches to successfully connecting people to the places they live in deep and meaningful ways. Brittany Couch An advocate and youth development expert, Brittany's main area of focus is on helping young people with experiences in child serving systems such as:mental health, juvenile justice, foster care and special education develop their leadership potential. Her national and statewide facilitation experience informs her work with youth from a variety of ethnic backgrounds as well as rural and urban communities. She has engaged youth in many arenas such as policy, life-skill building, and at-risk programs as well as across backgrounds such as mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, and special education.

Mike Bebee Mike has worked with hundreds of groups to help develop their leadership skills since 2004. With over 20 years of experience managing youth & adult leadership programs, Mike is passionate about partnering with young people to create positive social change.  His experience includes managing JustServe AmeriCorps, a youth anti-violence program, TEEN LINK, a hotline for youth answered by youth, and serving on the Board of Directors for COLAGE (Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere), a national organization advocating for the rights of GLBT families. Learn more about him at www.mikebeebe.biz.

Teddy Wright An exciting facilitator and youth development specialist skilled in program development, implementation and evaluation, Teddy has worked with organizations across the country. With experience as a child advocate and community-builder actively engaged in direct services and systems change to support youth and families subvert structural oppression and white supremacy, Teddy is a vital link in the CommonAction Consulting team.
